Among the new products are the first allergenic extracts made at industrial scale in Cuba, and the production of chromogenic and fluorgenic culture means, which can only be found in developed countries.

Moreover, BIOCEN is producing new formulas of the nutritional supplement known as TROFIN, in its variants of tablets and powder.

According to experts, in 2002, BIOCEN's recombinant vaccine against hepatitis B was pre-qualified by the World Health Organization (WHO). The center was also certified with the 1994 ISO 9002 quality standard.

Since July this year, BIOCEN has been working hard to be certified with the 2000 ISO 9001, which demands more requisites.

The center, which was inaugurated in August 1992, has a parenteral plant to produce drugs obtained by Cuban scientists, and another plant to produce culture means with a dozen products.
