Old Havana?s new Viennese-style bar is already a must for travelers coming from other latitudes.
It is a new mini-bar co-sponsored by the Viennese SALM Company and Cuba?s recreational company Habaguanex S.A., and constitutes a nice place located in the area surrounding the Old Square so-called Tavern of The Wall, that opened its doors in June.
Its manager Arnoldo Marrero highlights it is a place where both clear and dark
beer is sold to meet the increasing demand of many French, Italian, German and
Cuban customers, for they feel at ease there.
At the Tavern, refreshing Pilsen and Munich beers are poured in 0.5 liter glass
jars, but unlike other places, they are manufactured right there, which constitutes
one of its main attractions, because customers can enjoy the whole manufacturing
process.
Marrero pointed out the bar opens from 11:00 am to midnight every day and offers
a very informal, intimate and magnificent service for 200 visitors.
They use SALM patent and take advantage of customers? liking for beer,
its culture and tradition in Cuba, combining them with varied light foods, among
which are hamburgers, sausages, fried dishes and pork steak.
The manager made known the idea was suggested by the City of Havana?s
Historian Eusebio Leal, taking into account proposals made by the Austrian party,
and board members of other Cuban ministries like the Food Industry and Foreign
Affairs.
As a novelty, the house treats diners with a delicious soup after the 9:00
pm cannon blast, which is a Havanan tradition, because since the colonial time
a shot from La Caba?a Fortress, on the other side of Bay, announced the
opening and closing of Havana?s wall.
